Muktainagar (formerly known as Edlabad) is a small town situated (~21°03’08”N 76°03’18”E) on National Highway 6 (or Asian Highway 46) at the northern border of Maharashtra in India. Muktainagar is famous for its association with Muktai, the younger sister of Saint Dnyaneshwar, who attained Samādhi on the banks of the Tapti River at a place called Mehun (15 km from Muktainagar).

Eknath Khadse is from kothali village of Muktainagar tehsil of Jalgaon district. Khadse is prominent leader of Maharashtra. He has been elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, representing Muktainagar, since, 1989. Khadse's father was a farmer. Khadse's native place is kothali. Kothali is a village on the banks of Purna river, near muktainagar. Khadse was a Sarpanch of Kothali village in 1987 and after that he became the member of legislative assembly from muktainagar constituency. Khadse worked for to solve the questions of maharashtra farmers and muktainagar vidhansabha khsetra.he had handled both finance and irrigation portfolios in the Shiv Sena-BJP regime of 1995-99.Going by experience, having served as MLA for six terms, Mr Khadse is now the senior-most leader in the party in Maharashtra. He has been handling the post of leader of opposition of the state Assembly since November 2010. His son, Nikhil Khadase, committed suicide on 1 May 2013.He was also among Frontrunners for the Maharashtra chief minister post after 2014 assembly elections


Agriculture and religious tourism happen to the source of earnings of most people. Cotton, jowar and Bambara groundnuts are the predominant crops grown in the tehsil. Banana crop is also cultivated on the banks of the Tapi and Purna rivers passing through the tehsil.


Muktainagar is well known educational hub for the surrounding rural and suburb region. It has been promoting and rapidly enhancing Educational Institutions in Jalgaon District. Khadse Science and Arts College run by The Muktainagar Taluka Education Society Muktainagar, is located at a natural and peaceful surroundings on a hill, on Bhusawal road, near Gajanan Maharaj Temple. The college is affiliated to the North Maharashtra University Jalgaon and is approved under section 2(F) of UGC Act. It is now permanently affiliated since 2003. Being a 'Young College' it is under progress. The honorable NAAC Peer Team honored the college with 'B'. The College is quite sure that in the future the College will make more progress and achieve more.
