Minister of Agriculture, Shree Eknathrao Khadse appealed here that the producers of BT Cotton seeds should reduce the rates by 100 rupees to give some consolation to the farmers. Shree Khadse also said that if the rates are not reduced even after the appeal by the state government then the state government will reduce them by a formal notification. A meeting was held in the office of Shree Khadse about reducing the rates of BT Cotton seeds.
Shree Khadse said that the farmer is constantly facing calamities like drought, hail storms and untimely rain. Therefore, the producers of BT Cotton seeds should reduce the rates by 100 rupees for every 450 gms packet to give some consolation to the farmers. The state government is of the opinion that the rates of BT Cotton seeds should be reduced. Shree Khadse said that if the producers of seeds do not reduce the rates even after the appeal by the government then a formal notification should be made to sell the seeds at lower rates.
